Story

As the dark morning hours of another March 5th roll into what will be a brand new day, your absence continues to be felt just as keenly as ever. Maybe even more so it being the 40th Anniversary of our school leaving year & with the knowledge that a couple of reunion events are in the offing. I’d imagine you being keen to ensure as many of us as possible attended. Yesterday (4th) having braved being out in the covid infested world we now exist in I met up with dear Suzy at a local garden centre - oh Karen, she is such a gift (thank you); so awesomely down to earth, funny, flamboyant, yet guardedly vulnerable too. She’s so up front & honest. I just love that about your BFF. We shared a cream tea… I say shared… we shared a table together not the food (obv’s!). I was greedy & am still regretting that now at 4:55am, but I never learn. And we shopped, I was determined, despite really needing to watch pennies, that since we were honouring you (as we do in our friendship as well as the timing of this first get together post (mid) pandemic, that I would with Suzy alongside me shop for a hardy shrub and a pot that would grow in my garden space & become a specimen to keep in honour of you. I chose a pretty & shapely standard eucalyptus and a lovely forrest green pot that looks classy and elegant against the hue of the eucalyptus’ leaves. I know how you enjoyed your garden (acquired knowledge from your dad maybe?) so this felt like a good choice to me. Hopefully it will do ok out there. All these years sweetheart, you are missed, well remembered, very loved. XXX
